Fast Fashion is having a major impact on our planet, affecting people’s lives in more ways than we can even imagine. The people making our clothes are suffering from inhumane working circumstances, genetically modified crops are having a negative impact on out lands and on people’s health and the chemicals used to produce fast fashion are making the people that work with them suffer from rare diseases. This industry is the second major waste generator worldwide. So, how come we don’t seem to care? Why aren’t we doing enough to stop this?

My theory is that we are more likely to care about something that is impacting directly on us. It is easier to get involved when the situation is a tangible one. Right now, most of us aren’t being affected by all of this, so we just can’t see it. The problem is though, it will eventually affect us if don’t do something about it soon, because this is only accelerating the expiration date on safe life on our planet.

So let’s start doing something about this. Stop this apathy. I think even though it may be all far away from us, there’s always something we can do about it. Spreading the word, getting people informed is a great start.
